ProjectsThe work of Todd Hido
Todd Hido is an American photographer who has produced a significant body of work. Major monographs include Househunting (2001; Nazraeli), Outskirts (2002; Nazraeli Press), Roaming (2005; Nazraeli), Taft Street (2001; Nazraeli), and most recently Between the Two (2007; Nazraeli). Much of Hido’s work captures unsettling images of the suburban landscape. These are powerful evocations of anonymous, even mysterious aspects of American life, especially of buildings and landscapes absent of human presence.
For more info go to Hido’s website [link].
Also, there is an interview broadcast on National Public Radio in the States [link] (with an excellent clip of an encounter that Todd had with a member of the public while he was working on House 270 -- see below).
Best of all, Todd's images are good to think with.

AngelaPiccini: excellent stuff! good to think, indeed - aesthetic drive of the absent, the melancholia of abandonment. is there a way to 'do' absence without longing?
