I would like to explore the relationship between visual imagery and the construction of knowledge and experience. Specifically, I am interested in the role of aesthetic imagery in archaeological discourse: How art photography and archaeological photography are both strikingly similar and dissimilar. Both play with notions of hiding/revealing, both consciously choose the information in the frame to make a specific point. I would like to illustrate the arbitrary nature of the objective/subjective divide, and encourage the use of variety and differing contexts to encourage critical thought in archaeological discourse and education.
