Darian focuses on topics in Roman archaeology. She is interested in the Archaic Mediterranean, in particular the Etruscans and their relationships with Greeks, Romans and other groups in the West. Darian is also interested in the use of Etruscan language and material culture in constructing local pasts in Italy from the Renaissance to the present, the role of local museums in displaying this heritage, and the conservation and protection of Etruscan sites.
