Bruce's principal research interest is on the relationship between governance and urban forms in Romania. As a Fulbright Scholar, Bruce studied the spatial politics circulating around the placement of homeless shelters in Bucharest. Other research interests include the Anthropologies of post-socialism, neoliberalism, consumption and suburbanization. Before coming to Stanford, Bruce completed his master's degree in Contemporary Urbanism (Dept of Geography) at the London School of Economics, and he worked for the New York City Economic Development Corporation as an Urban Fellow. Bruce received his bachelor's degree in Philosophy and in Sociology from Villanova University.
