Antigone’s uncle on her mother’s side; Haemon’s father; Ismene’s uncle; in his early forties; decisive ruler of Thebes; stubborn; rather two-faced—he has the face of a leader who rules with an iron fist, and the face he regresses into when he is either 1) with people that are close to him or 2) being goaded/frustrated/etc. Most of his frustration comes from the disruption of his image of what Thebes should be like, or any form of blatant disobedience. His biggest weakness is that he does not listen to others.
