Euelpides is the more loquacious character, taking up more than 50% of the lines in the play. Although Peisetairos is the leading character and considered the protagonist. Euelpides is the character who is left with explaining how the heroes ended up coming cuckoo land.

The comic hero must never appear mad, extravagent, or abnormal. but must act with optimistic conviction of his own wisdom. He must provide explanation of Peisetairos' mad behavior. He plays a similar role to the Servants in The Wasps and Peace
