Current Research Interests

Archaeology and history of the Late Republic-High Roman Empire; Greek and Roman architecture; Roman urbanism; literacy; gift-giving; modern material culture studies; representations of the contemporary city as ruin in art, film, and literature.

My major interests in Binchester are examining civilian and military relationships as constructed through urban space, thinking about how most effectively to interest and include different modern communities in the archaeology of a particular site, and — after several years — making a return to human osteological remains analysis.
